The Oregon Historical Society's Museum and Research Library are located at 1200 SW Park Avenue, between Madison and Jefferson streets in downtown Portland.

Our Museum Store can be entered on SW Broadway Avenue, at the corner of Broadway and Madison Streets.

Public Transportation We are readily accessible by public transportation. The Pioneer Square MAX station is only four blocks north of the Historical Society. Most Tri-Met buses stop at the Transit Mall downtown along SW 5th or 6th streets, just two or three blocks away. The Portland Streetcar stops at SW 11th and Jefferson (Northbound) or SW 10th at the Portland Art Museum, two blocks east of the Oregon Historical Society. Southbound Take I-5 to I-405 South. Take the West Burnside Exit and turn left. Travel eight blocks to SW Broadway Avenue and turn right. Travel eleven blocks to SW Jefferson Street and turn right. Take the next right onto SW Park Avenue. The Oregon Historical Society will be on your right.

Northbound Take I-5 North to I-405 North. Take the SW 6th Avenue exit off I-405. Travel nine blocks to SW Jefferson Street and turn left. Travel 3 blocks to SW Park Avenue and turn right. The Oregon Historical Society will be on your right.

Eastbound Travel east on Highway 26. Stay in the center lane to take the SW Market Street exit. Travel five blocks and turn left onto SW Park Avenue. The Oregon Historical Society will be on your right between SW Jefferson and SW Madison, three blocks north of Market Street.

Westbound Travel west on I-84. Take I-5 South towards Salem and cross the Marquam Bridge, following the signs to I-405 North. Take I-405 North to the SW 6th Avenue exit. Travel nine blocks to SW Jefferson Street and turn left. Turn right onto SW Park Avenue. The Oregon Historical Society will be on your right.

Street Parking There is ample street parking near the Oregon Historical Society. Most metered parking in the immediate vicinity is limited to three hours. More three-hour metered spots can be found along 10th Avenue and also on Columbia, a short walk from the Society. Most metered spaces are in effect Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm.

Visitors with disabilities may park at any meter labeled 30 minutes and longer for free, if they have a disabled parking permit, “DMV Disabled Placard.” Permits must be clearly visible.

Smart Park Garages These city-run, short-term parking garages are usually less expensive than metered parking. Nearest locations are:

• 10th Avenue & Yamhill Street, entrance on 10th
• 4th Avenue & Yamhill Street, entrance on 4th
• 3rd Avenue & Alder Street, entrances on 3rd and 4th
• 1st Avenue & Jefferson Street, entrance on Jefferson
  
  

Public Parking Lots These lots may be more expensive than the Smart Park lots, but they have fewer time limits and are a bit closer to the Historical Society. Rates vary.
