![]() Kid - Friendly Docents Give tours of the museum, emphasizing the Oregon, My Oregon exhibit. Volunteers must enjoy working with children of all ages and have a passion for history. Training is provided and attendance at monthly docent meetings is encouraged. Tours are given Monday – Friday, between 10:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. A commitment to 4 tours a month is required. Family Day Greeter Family Days are on one Saturday a month, 10:00-3:00 and are planned in accordance with exhibits. Volunteers assist staff with various children’s activities and greet family visitors. ![]() Meet and Greet Visitor Services Provide excellent customer service to visitors, issue admission tickets and membership, answer general information questions, answer the telephone and assist with library registration. Shifts are Monday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Greeter Provide a quality experience for the visitor by welcoming them to the museum and answering questions about exhibits and membership. Various shifts on weekdays and Saturdays. Reference Assistant Assist visitors in the Research Library with finding information in the vertical files, assisting visitors with the microfilm and photocopying documents for visitors. Library hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Museum Store Volunteer Assist Museum Store customers by ringing up sales, answering questions about exhibits and membership. Volunteers also assist staff with inventory, dusting shelves and organizing merchandise. Shifts are Monday- Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Special Events Greet and assist visitors at various events including the Hatfield Lecture Series and the Holiday Cheer and Authors Party. ![]() Behind-the-Scenes Clerical/ Office Assistant Provide administrative support including filing, word processing and mass mailings in various departments. Weekdays. Library Volunteer Works on various projects including cataloging, organizing and summarizing vertical files and processing collections ofphotos and manuscripts. Library experience is helpful on cataloging projects. Schedule varies. Publications Works on Oregon Historical Quarterly and the Oregon Encyclopedia by researching, fact-checking and general administrative support. Interest and experience with writing and editing helpful. Internships All internships are unpaid. Folklife Interns assist with oral history transcriptions of interviews from various groups such as the Native American community and Spanish-speaking community. Fluency in Spanish is helpful. Library Work on cataloging and various other short-term projects. Publications Works on Oregon Historical Quarterly and the Oregon Encyclopedia by researching, fact-checking and general administrative support.
