|Statuary Hall Study Commission|
National Statuary Hall was created by Congress in 1864 and two statues from every state. In 1921, the Oregon State Legislature selected Jason Lee and Dr. John McLoughlin as the that statues that would represent our state. In 2014, Governor John Kitzhaber established the Statuary Hall Study Commission to determine whether or not these statues should remain, or be replaced by other notable Oregonians. The Statuary Hall Study Commission invites all Oregonians to participate in the recommendation process. You can vote on whether your think John McLaughlin and/or Jason Lee should remain in National Statuary Hall, and, if not, which individuals should be recommended as replacements. You can also learn more about John McLaughlin, Jason Lee, and the individuals who have been recommended by the Commission for consideration.
