Rafaela Gillette
 

Rafaela "Faly" Gillette was born in Spain in the southern seacoast city of Cadiz. As a child she studied Flamenco song and dance. By age seven, she was performing for the Radio Cadiz Theater. Later she was hired by a Flamenco touring company to sing and dance throughout southern Spain. After moving to Portland in 1975 she founded a flamenco group and has been teaching both youth and adults. For the past three years, she has been singing and dancing with the group Flamenco Puro.

Traditional Flamenco Songs, Dance & Culture

Students will be introduced to basic principals of dance, learn about southern Spanish culture, and the songs and dance of traditional Flamenco. They will use hands, feet, body movements and posture, to create meaningful art.
