Prajwal R. Vajracharya
 

Prajwal Vajracharya grew up in Kathmandu where at age eight he began learning the ancient Buddhist dance of Charya Nirtya from his father. Buddhist priests perform this dance as part of their meditation. Prajwal is a master performer who has toured in Europe, Asia and the United States. In 1997, he won the Royal Dance Award, bestowed by the King of Nepal. He has also taught in universities and private institutions in Nepal and the U.S. and enjoys sharing his culture with people of all ages.

Charya Nirtya: workshop/residency
Prajwal teaches students about the significance of Charya Nirtya dance in Nepalese culture—briefly explaining the history and theory of the dance—and guides them through some of the dance movements.

Students will witness art, history, and culture unfold as Prajwal performs the energizing Charya Nirtya dance.
