![]() Ping Khaw-Sutherland is a talented visual artist from Malaysia. Since moving to Portland to attend the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 1990, Ping has been active with many Portland area schools and community organizations. She first learned about puppetry construction and performance in grade school in Malaysia. In 1997, she furthered her interest in puppetry by apprenticing to Master Artist, Yuqin Wang, as part of the Folklife Program's Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program. In addition, they will learn the history of the tradition, Chinese culture, geography, arts, and lifestyle. In order to assure each student receives ample attention during her workshops, Ping works with groups of no more than 15 students; no more than 18 in residencies.
