Nan MacDonald is a tenth generation Native American Basket Weaver. Her Native American Heritage comes from the Abenackis of Odanack, near Quebec, Canada and the St. Regis Mohawks of up-state New York. She learned to weave baskets in the traditional way, with wood splints from the Ash tree, from Abenacki master weavers. Nan has been weaving this style of basket for six years and since moving to Oregon has also learned to weave baskets in the traditions of some of the West coast tribes.
