Aurelio Garnica
 

Aurelio Garnica was born in Jalisco, Mexico. He grew up listening to his parents’ recordings of traditional mariachi music which inspired him to begin playing. He also spent time traveling around Mexico to learn more about the variety of musical styles represented throughout the country. Now he is teaching his children to play mariachi in order to pass on these traditions. Aurelio has been playing for twenty years and performs with his group Los Palmeros.

Los Palmeros--Mariachi Music
Mariachi refers to a genre of Mexican music born out of traditional folk melodies and dances. Mariachi ensembles play a variety of instruments including violins, guitar, basses, vihuelas (5 string guitars) and trumpets. Los Palmeros play regional styles from Jalisco, Veracruz, Zacatecas, Colima, Sinaloa, Guanajuato and Michoacán. They also sing traditional songs from all over the country.
