Oregon Historical Society Privacy Policy
The Oregon Historical Society maintains the highest level of respect for the privacy of its donors. The following is our donor privacy policy, which guides our volunteers and staff on how they may and may not use your personal information while honoring your rights as a contributor.
What information we collect
The Oregon Historical Society collects and uses personal information from donors that includes: name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and donor comments when a donor voluntarily provides it to us. In addition, OHS keeps a record of each donor’s giving history. This information is kept on file for IRS purposes and is also used in our development process to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make accurate budget projections.
How we use that information
OHS will use contact information (e-mail, telephone number and address) for these purposes:
Distribute receipts for donations Thank donors for their donation Inform donors about news, upcoming fundraising events and other activities at OHS Internal analysis and record keeping Reporting demographics to relevant U.S. and State agencies (these reports are not for public inspection) Contact donors about changes to this policy
OHS does not sell its mailing lists for any reason. However, on occasion, we do trade mailing lists with other non-profits for the purpose of broadening support for our mission. To opt out of these trades please contact the Membership Office at (503) 306-5220 or nic.mccarthy@ohs.org.
As a rule, OHS publicly recognizes a donor by publishing the donor’s name in our annual report or on a recognition sign unless the donor explicitly requests the gift to be "anonymous”.
All financial account information is kept confidential and secure. Access to a specific gift amount is limited to OHS professional staff and board.
